In the
time of the Empire the arms used by the provinces were the Imperial Arms. At
the proclamation of the Republic the states were granted the right to adopt
their own achievements. The República do Acre and the Estado
Independente do Acre were separatist governments in then Bolivia's Acre
region between 1899 and 1903. By Decree n° 1
of 15 July 1899 Luiz Galvez Rodrigues de Arias, head of the provisional
government proclaimed the Estado Independente do Acre. The seal of the
independent state showed a tree and a house, in chief a five-pointed star
rayonnant. The legend reads: « ESTADO INDEPENDENTE DO
ACRE «PATRIA E LIBERDADE. It
was printed on stamps issued 1899. |
